I know that, if the timeout is set too short, unnecessary retransmissions will occur.

Suppose, we send a segment with sequence number = 100 and segment length = 100. This segment is received by the the receiver and the receiver sends a ACK with Acknowledgement number = 200. But, at the sender side the RTO Timer expires. So, the sender retransmits the data with sequence number = 100. Suddenly, the ACK for the previous packet arrives at the sender. Will the sender accept the delayed ACK? Will the receiver discard the duplicate segment? Does Karn’s Algorithm take care of this problem?
