You'll have to convert the byte address into block address, as caches are always mapped according to the blocks 1440 byte address, means, 720 as the block address. (since there are two bytes in a block).

720%64 is the required address, which is 16.

Best answer

Given:

Direct Mapped cache.

No of blocks in cache= $2^{6}$

Block offset = 2 bytes.

Byte address : 1440 (decimal).

Solution:

From given part, address format will look like,

Index                        BO
  6 1

Now,

Convert given byte address to Binary format.

(1440) decimal ---> 10110100000 (binary)

This binary address will be interpreted by cache controller as --

1011(Tag) 010000(index) 0(BO)

From this u can get cache block index which is 16.
